If you do even just a little research on this subject, the resounding advice tends to be yes. It boosts web traffic, creativity, awareness among many other things, apparently. I have fallen into the trap of posting too much into my image portfolios where I should perhaps use a blog to talk through my shoots and display the images in more of article style and leave the very best for my galleries.

So here we are post 1.

My new years resolution this year was to focus more on building and developing my social media presence, which has gone reasonably well thus far. I now have a format for Instagram which I stuck to and am steadily bulking a structured portfolio of sorts there. I post as regularly as I can to my FB page, so that's another tick.

I had created a YouTube channel where I intended to document my progress from amateur photography to semi pro, and had every intention of creating content and sharing. That all rested on the idea that I was moving into a new property where I could set up an office and a comfortable environment where I could document my ramblings to post online. This was all put on hold when the sale of my current property was put on hold.

If I am to be completely honest, the notion of committing to writing a regular blog makes me nervous. I am not particularly gifted when it comes to literacy, I mean I can string words and even sentences together, but writing isn't something I do that much of. Frequency will be a big factor as I know that a blog is only interesting provided it is updated regularly. So let's see how it goes.

What will you see through these posts? Well hopefully I will get into a reasonable flow and talk through my processes for shooting, editing, selling, discuss note worthy industry news. I would also very much like to take the opportunity to talk you through my photo projects and self analyse my processes so that I may learn from my mistake, and perhaps help those that are kind enough to follow my ramblings.

For obvious reasons there aren't that many images of me on the site, but I thought it would be a good opportunity to share one with you now so you can put a face to the scribble. This shot was taken in Luang Prabang, Laos last year.

So here we go, blog is now live! Next steps for me now is another refresh of my page to tidy up my portfolios. Keep an eye out for upcoming posts covering some of this years adventures, but for now I think my work here is done.
